LeBron James and son Bronny make history as they share court for the first time

It comes just a year after LeBron James' son Bronny suffered a major health scare

LeBron James and his son have made history together as they took on the Phoenix Suns over the weekend.

LeBron is seen as one of the greatest basketball players of all time by many sports fans, and his son Bronny has followed in his father's footsteps.

To mark his 20th birthday yesterday (October 6), Bronny joined his celebrity dad on court in the LA Lakers' preseason game against the Phoenix Suns.

The budding basketball star was brought on as a substitute to begin the second quarter, joining his father on the court out of the timeout.

Not only do the sporting duo mark the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time, but the James' have also gone down in history as the first father and son to play on the same team.

Taking to Twitter after the the game, basketball legend LeBron penned: "WOW THAT WAS SURREAL!!"

39-year-old LeBron is amping up for his 22nd season in the NBA, while this will be Bronny's first.

He was the Lakers’ second-round draft pick this summer.

While LeBron is approaching his 40th birthday, it seems as if the sporting veteran isn't slowing down anytime soon after having signed a two-year deal with the Lakers.

Bronny's recruitment comes after a huge health scare last year when the then-teenager suffered a cardiac arrest.

In July 2023, Bronny was doing a workout when the ordeal happened. It was later revealed that cardiac arrest was as a result of a congenital heart defect.

A spokesperson for the James family said at the time: "It is an anatomically and functionally significant Congenital Heart Defect which can and will be treated.

"We are very confident in Bronny's full recovery and return to basketball in the very near future.

"We will continue to provide updates to media and respectfully reiterate the family's request for privacy."

In light of Bronny's superstar father, you'd think the pressure might get to him, but according to LeBron he 'really does not care' about what people say about him.

Speaking to ESPN's Dave McMenamin earlier this year, LeBron said: "I don't know if people really understand Bronny. He doesn't care. I actually care a little bit."

He went on: "When I came in (as a rookie), I wanted people to like me and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career... he doesn't give a f**k.

"He does not care about nobody. He doesn't even listen to that stuff. He's like the coolest. He's like the complete opposite of his dad."
