Just how much Olympians are set to be paid for competing in the upcoming summer games has been revealed, and it might spur you on to pick up a javelin.
Yes, the Paris 2024 Olympics are upon us and the games begin tomorrow (July 26).
And while the International Olympic Committee doesn't actually pay those taking part in the games, it seems there is still a lucrative amount of money to be won.

This is because athletes can be paid by their respective National Olympic Committee.
However, it appears that money varies from country to country, and even fluctuates depending on what sport you're competing in.
Those taking to the track or fall under the World Athletics' jurisdiction will be set to land a healthy $50,000 from the sports' governing body if they pick up a gold medal - that's on top of any sponsors and endorsement deals athletes may have.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has vowed to pay $3.1 million to medallists.
IBA President Umar Kremlev said: "We support all our athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics, and on behalf of the entire international boxing community, I am extremely proud to announce that all Paris gold medallists in the boxing tournament will receive a substantial financial reward of $100,000.
"Out of this amount, the athlete will receive $50,000, their National Federation will receive $25,000, and their coach will receive $25,000.
"For a silver medal, $50,000 prize money will be awarded, with the athlete receiving $25,000, and the remaining $25,000 being distributed evenly between the coach and the National Federation.

"For a bronze medal, we will provide $25,000, of which $12,500 will go to the athlete, and $12,500 will again be distributed evenly."
According to a survey of medal payouts carried out by USA Today Sports, gold medallists native to Malaysia, Morocco and Serbia will receive a life-changing sum of money - upwards of $200,000 from their country's government or National Olympic Committee.
Meanwhile six other countries, including Italy, which picked up 10 gold medals in Tokyo 2020, will reportedly pay its crowned athletes over $100,000 if they manage to pick up the accolade in Paris.

Poland is marking its 100th Olympics anniversary in an extraordinary way.
If a Polish athlete comes home with a shiny gold plated medal, their accommodation will be paid for for the foreseeable - a two-bed apartment in the Warsaw.
As per USA Today, the Polish Olympic Committee spokesperson said this 'will be a newly built Olympic housing estate and all Polish Olympic champions will live in the same housing estate and even in the same building'.

But it doesn't end there, Polish athletes will be given $64,958, an 'investment diamond', a paid-for vacation for two people worth $25,000, and a 'painting painted by respected and talented Polish artists', the spokesperson added.
So what does an American athlete get if they bring home the glory?
The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee's 'Operation Gold' remains in place for 2024.
This means US athletes will receive $37,500 for winning a gold medal in Paris, $22,500 for a silver and $15,000 for a bronze.
While it doesn't sound like a huge amount, it's worth remembering that the US has won the most gold medals in the history of the games and last summer Olympics alone took home 113 - 39 golds, 41 silvers and 33 bronzes.
UNILAD has contacted World Athletics, The International Boxing Association, the Polish Olympic Committee and United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee for further comment.
