I mean, the play hadn't even begun before controversy was made with the opening ceremony.
And since then, we've seen a marksman make headlines with his unique style to scoring a silver medal, and viewers hooked to a sport they'd never previously heard of, just to name a few.
Well, another talking point has come from the Olympic rugby sevens, particularly a match involving Team GB and Ireland.

The two women's teams were facing off to claim seventh place after losing in the quarter-finals of the competition.
It was Team GB that came out victorious in the end, clinching a 28-12 win over their Irish counterparts.
The result is not what people are talking about online however, but instead a certain segment of play.
With just five minutes on the clock, a Team GB player restarted the game by kicking the ball towards their opponent.

This is when the viral moment occurred as Erin King lifted up her teammate Emily Lane to catch the ball.
And as you can see from the viral footage, King showed incredible strength to ensure Lane did not fall on her back. Check it out:

"This is the coolest sh*t I’ve ever seen," one person wrote while a second added: "This is absolutely insane."
A third quipped: "This might be the hardest clip from a sport I’ve ever seen…. Holy sh*t," and a fourth reacted to the clip with: "OH MY GOD ARE YOU KIDDING ME."
Elsewhere in the Olympics, one Turkish marksman has made all the headlines for turning up and winning silver without any specialist equipment.
Yusuf Dikeç has been representing Turkey at the 10 metre air pistol competition in Paris.

The contest often sees athletes involved using specialist eyewear to help on the field of play.
Dikeç is very different however, as he showed up to shoot without any eyewear whatsoever. Well, aside from regular sunglasses, that is.
The lack of enhancements didn't matter though as Dikeç bagged an impressive silver medal.
Speaking after claiming the medal, the Olympian said: "I am just very happy about five Olympic Games. We were very strong today in our competition.
"We next [come] to Los Angeles and win a gold medal."
