This is despite the dedicated athlete cutting off her hair in an attempt to make the weight.
The news will come as a devastating blow to the Olympian, who would have been dreaming of glory in Paris.

"No further comments will be made by the contingent at this time. The Indian team requests you respect Vinesh’s privacy. It would like to focus on the competitions on hand."

Phogat's disqualification is another athlete's gain, in this case, Lopez.
The Cuban will now face American Sarah Hildebrandt in the final, who defeated Otgonjargal Dolgorjav of Mongolia 5-0 in the other semi-final.
Away from the sport, Phogat is well known in her native country of India as she and other female wrestlers were arrested in the Indian capital of New Delhi.
They marched on parliament due to allegations of sexual misconduct by individuals involved in wrestling.

One of them happened to be Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India, who was later replaced.
