A mom has sparked heated debate online for calling for the 'normalization' of charging other kids' parents for playdates.

Oh to be a child again and the only thing you have to think about is getting up, watching some TV, going to school, learning what two plus two is and which one of your best friends' houses you're going to on a Friday night.

Alas, playdates are seemingly getting a whole lot more complicated, with one mom explaining she now charges her daughter's friends' parents when they come for a visit.

But what for?

Shay took to TikTok last month to call on her fellow parents to 'normalize sending the other family money for playdates'.

In the video, she says: "So recently, my daughter had a friend over and I asked her mom for money and this is how it went."

Shay then reveals a screenshot of the text conversation, showing her text to the mom thanking her for letting her child come and play but requesting that she 'help out' with her 'share of the expenses' by sending over $15 over Venmo.

The text concludes: "Let's do it again soon!"

And it's fair to say the other mom was a bit confused.

After questioning why there were 'expenses,' Shay continued: "She used supplies and food while she was here and this way we can do this more often without a monetary obligation on just one party."

Shay went on to list the supplies, which included items such as $1 apple sauce, $1 for chalk and $1 for the child having 'sat on couch wear and tear', alongside $5 for breaking a doll.

Oh and 'three trips to the bathroom' totalling $3.

The fellow parent didn't reply but simply sent over the funds.

Shay resolved: "Controversial but I think it's a really good idea. What do you think?"

And it's not taken long for people to flood the video in debate.

One TikToker wrote: "'Mommy whyy does nobody want to come over and play with me?'"

"I'd send you the $15 then never speak to you again," another added.

"You counted her bathroom visits?!?!" a third wrote.

A fourth commented: "If I couldn't afford to host a playdate, then I simply wouldn't invite. Instead meet at a park and bring your own snacks."

"That's actually a good idea. Thank you," Shay replied.

And a final resolved: "It's rage bait right pls."

So, what do you think?
