A mom-to-be has been slammed online for supposedly 'not caring’ about potential side effects of taking Ozempic while breastfeeding.
The drug has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for people with Type 2 diabetes, though it has been used by individuals hoping to lose weight - despite it not being approved by the FDA for weight loss.
Ozempic contains a small amount of semaglutide, which can make people feel full for much longer by slowing down the passage of food through the stomach and intestines.

However, problems can arise if the rare process of 'ileus' takes place - when the intestines become blocked - leading to the FDA to add 'ileus' to Ozempic's labelling as a possible adverse side effect.
Just over the past few months, there have been a few cases of people being negatively affected after taking the drug, such as one woman alleging she would suffer diarrhoea forever after 'Ozempic caused life-threatening bowel injury', while another case ended with one woman tragically losing her life while attempting to lose weight for her daughter's wedding.
Linda Andrade, an American housewife married to a millionaire in Dubai, took to TikTok recently to reveal that she's gained over 40 pounds in the past few months.

The content creator, who is also known as 'The Original Dubai Housewife', admitted in a viral TikTok how she has been feeling about her weight gain.
"Nobody warned me, and I definitely didn’t sign up for this," the mom-to-be, who is nine months pregnant, said.
As an overlay, the TikToker showcased her lavish lifestyle living in the Middle East as she further explained her situation.

While Linda showcased clips of herself dining at Dubai’s fanciest restaurants and getting pampered at a spa, she says: "This is a huge sacrifice to me. I love my body and I hate gaining weight."
Linda then goes on to say that she plans on using Ozempic injections after she gives birth - captioning the video 'ozempic baby'.

However, many of the commenters have slammed Linda for allegedly 'not caring' about the potential side effects of taking the drug while breastfeeding.
"She cares more about Ozempic than her baby," one person commented.

A second added: "Did you seriously think you'd stay thin during pregnancy lol? Is that fr your only concern?"
While a third remarked: "I gained 45 lbs, but lost 20 of it by the 6 week check up. I'm 9 months pp now and only have 3 lbs left to lose. it comes off!"
According to Ozempic, it is currently 'not known if Ozempic passes into breastmilk', but they urge people 'not to use Ozempic if you are breastfeeding'.
The Mayo Clinic also adds: "There are no adequate studies in women for determining infant risk when using this medication during breastfeeding.
"Weigh the potential benefits against the potential risks before taking this medication while breastfeeding.
"Always consult your doctor prior to use."
