An American TikToker has died after falling off a cliff in Puerto Rico while filming a video.
It’s been confirmed Edgar Garay plummeted off a 70-foot coastal cliff near the lighthouse in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, as per the New York Post.
Garay’s body was recovered Monday by Puerto Rico Emergency Bureau divers.

They then helped transport the body shoreside to local authorities and emergency response agencies in Cabo Rojo.
Garay, 27, was an Indiana resident vacationing on the Caribbean island and was last seen at 5.37 pm Sunday.
“We express our most heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Edgar Garay and pray they find closure and strength during this most difficult time,” said Captain José E. Díaz, Coast Guard Sector San Juan commander, via a press release.

“We appreciate the efforts of all the Coast Guard, Puerto Rico Police and partner agency emergency responders, especially the Puerto Rico Emergency Management Bureau dive unit that was able to locate Mr. Garay’s body in such a highly inaccessible and challenging environment.”
Garay’s brother, Carlos, told WTHR that he was on the cliff with his cousin, who warned him not to get too close to the edge.
“My brother has a TikTok account that he loved to upload videos to,” Carlos said, as per the outlet.

“Unfortunately, that was what he was trying to do when he was closer to the edge than he should have been.”
A witness also told the outlet bystanders saw Garay stumble off the cliff.
Similarly, in June 2021, a popular Chinese TikToker also plummeted to her death while filming content for her channel in Quzhou, China.
The Sun reported that Xiao Qiumei, 23, fell off a 160-foot crane while recording herself in a live stream video.

The young woman, who had more than 100,000 followers, was filmed dancing when she fell off what appeared to be a crane cabin.
As she fell, the camera abruptly switched and captured blurry images as Qiumei flew past equipment.
Initially, her family denied she was filming a video at work while operating the giant crane.
They added that she was a professional and always kept her mobile in her bag during work hours.

However, they later confirmed that Qiumei died due to a misstep.
