A man has been booked into jail after allegedly attacking a flight attendant and swallowing rosary beads to combat 'evil spirits' on a plane.
On March 10, 2025, an American Airlines flight operated by Envoy Air - ENY 4162 - carrying 'approximately eight passengers and five crew members' departed from Savannah Hilton Head International Airport in Georgia set to travel to Miami International Airport.
However, at around 8:13pm, 'less than one minute' into the flight, attendants were notified to check in on the welfare of a passenger who appeared to be having some sort of fit.
An affidavit - obtained by Fox News - details witnesses on board the flight seeing a passenger, later identified as Delange Augustin, 'stomping, incoherent, yelling and shaking'.

When one of the flight attendants approached Augustin to check on him, he allegedly 'turned in his seat, lifted his legs and kicked [them] in the chest'.
"The force of this kick sent Flight Attendant Two across the aisle, across the row of seats, and into the far window," the report continues. "This caused pain, and Flight Attendant 2 noted shallow breathing for several minutes."
While the two flight attendants 'initially believed' the passenger was 'having a medical issue,' they later stated his 'choices appeared purposeful', causing them to grow 'scared'.

It was decided between the pilots and staff that the plane would subsequently turn back to its departure airport.
While this discussion was taking place, it's reported 'Augustin increased in agitation, punching and kicking the seat and passenger in front of him' causing the passenger to move and Augustin's 'continued kicking' to 'collapse the chair'.
He only reportedly 'calmed down' when told the plane was returning to Savannah.
When the plane landed, it's reported Augustin 'removed his seatbelt and stormed' to the 'front' of the plane with his sister in tow, 'corner[ing] a flight attendant' and 'throwing several "haymakers"' - with three passengers allegedly forced to intervene.

Police then boarded the plane and Augustin was transported to hospital as he allegedly swallowed 'rosary beads' too.
Authorities also spoke with Augustin's sister, Medijina, who said the pair were traveling to Haiti 'to flee religious attacks of a spiritual nature'.

The affidavit claims Medijina said 'evil comes out of the darkness' and the pair had 'never experienced as much darkness as was on the plane that evening'.

It continues: "She was not surprised that Augustin had hurt anyone because he hurts evil. Medjina can feel the spiritual fight but cannot see, so she prays.
"On the plane, Augustin told Medjina to close her eyes and pray because Satan’s disciple(s) had followed them onto the plane and the legion did not want the Augustins to make it to Haiti.
"Augustin told Medjina to never let go so she could not be taken away, and she prayed throughout the battle. Augustin swallowed the rosary beads because they are a weapon of strength in the spiritual warfare."
Augustin's sister allegedly 'indicated' he does not 'suffer from any medical or mental health issue or impairment' but 'needed to fight for both him' and her safety.

Augustin was subsequently booked into Chatham County Jail on a misdemeanor battery charge, a misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement charge, and a felony count of criminal property damage.
The affidavit also resolves there being 'probable cause' to arrest Augustin for violating the code of 'interference with flight crew or members'.
American Airlines said in a statement: "We appreciate the professionalism of the entire crew and thank our passengers for their understanding."
