Mom defends spending nearly $40k a year on luxury vacations for her one-year-old

Jodie Weston already has some major travel plans in place for her son's next birthday

An influencer and mom has insisted her one-year-old son isn't being spoilt by her spending almost $40,000 a year on fancy vacations.

St Lucia, Budapest, Paris - these are the types of locations that are on many people's travel bucket lists, but one-year-old Koa has already managed to tick them off.

Admittedly the youngster probably has no idea yet how lucky he is to have visited such amazing places, but that doesn't stop his mom, Jodie Weston, from taking him.

The 30-year-old works as an influencer and DJ, and has been open about her love of luxury as she appeared in British reality TV shows titled Rich Holiday Poor Holiday and Rich Kids Go Skint.

Though Jodie did claim the shows taught her an 'important lesson' about appreciating the little things in life, she's still keen to show her son the world.

This year alone, the mom and son have travelled to St Lucia and Budapest and enjoyed a staycation in Windsor, UK, to visit theme parks like Legoland and Chessington World of Adventures.

Jodie has already spent £30,000 ($38,500) on trips this year, and we're only halfway through.

Though her spending might raise some eyebrows, the mom has made clear she's happy with the life she's making for her son.

"He’s too young to know what being spoilt is, we are just enjoying the high life,” Jodie told What's The Jam.

“He’s just living a life of luxury and there’s nothing wrong with that. In a few months, he’ll be starting nursery and so I want to spend as much time with him as possible before that."

Jodie and Koa are next looking forward to a five-star staycation in the Cotswolds, followed by a stay in a mansion in Italy which has cost £10,000 ($12,830).

On top of that, the mom buys her son a 'new wardrobe' for each new vacation.

“It’s cost me about £2,000 this year, but I don’t care," Jodie said. “I’m a sole parent, so I obviously over compensate. But if you’ve got it, then flaunt it.”

Jodie also noted that women are often expected to 'stay at home all the time and never take any time' for themselves when they become mothers, but she insisted that enjoying her travels, including trips for work, have made her a 'better parent'.

"I even get to squeeze in a pedicure or massage to make the most of my alone time," she said.

Jodie has so far taken Koa on all of her trips, but she's planning on a birthday vacation to Las Vegas later on this year which he won't quite be old enough to attend.

She has a plan to make up for it, though.

“I’ll make up for going away without him and go to Disney World in Florida for his next birthday, too," she revealed.

Jodie also shared plans to try and take Koa on more trips around the UK when he's older to teach him to 'appreciate everything he’s got and is able to do'.

As for anyone who judges her lifestyle, she said: "The people who judge me aren’t usually parents themselves yet, so they can’t really have an opinion.

“More often than not, they’re just jealous of me and my ability to not conform - but that’s their problem, not mine.”
