A passenger was left shocked when a flight attendant told her to put a stop to her hobby mid-flight due to an 'unwritten' rule.
TikTok Brittany - who goes by @brittstitches - shared a video on the streaming platform, explaining that she'd been told to put her items away after being instructed by a flight attendant.
Brittany had been enjoying some knitting on her flight when she was stopped by a crew member.

"Staring at my knitting in jail because the flight attendant told me to put it away after telling me to 'think about if I would really want to be holding needles if there was an emergency'."
“Was hoping to finish knitting my sock on this flight but guess it will have to wait,” they added.
People were pretty surprised over in the comments, with one person writing: "They literally serve boiling beverages and meals to be eaten on a lap tray which is a threat even outside of a plane related emergency."

While another said: "What? makes more sense to keep yourself busy. and they're not sharp."
And a third wrote: "Ask her when she’s collecting pens and styluses from other passengers."
Others were in agreement with the flight attendant though, with another writing: "Idk why people are against this, the flight attendant was fully right for this."
While another added: "I don't think she was trying to be rude. If the plane jerks too hard and you’re holding NEEDLES near your face… you might have a worse day than everyone else on that plane."

And a third added: "She’s just doing her job, why do ppl on the internet want to villainize everyone."
"I’m really confused about what she was trying to imply? If there’s an emergency the last thing I’ll be thinking about is if I’m holding knitting needles. I don’t get it!" added another.
Meanwhile, one asked how Brittany had got them past security.

To which she responded: "They are allowed on flights and through security."
Over on the TSA website, the rules on knitting needles are clarified.
"Any sharp objects in checked bags should be sheathed or securely wrapped to prevent injury to baggage handlers and inspectors," it reads.

Meanwhile, the advice on sewing needles states: "In general, you may place your knitting needles and needlepoint tools in carry-on or checked baggage.
"Circular thread cutters or any other cutter or needlepoint tools that contain blades must be placed in checked baggage. You are permitted to keep scissors smaller than 4 inches in your carry-on baggage."
They can also be carried in carry-on bags and check-in luggage.
