People left terrified after watching diver jump from extreme height on cruise ship that ‘should be illegal’

A diver shared a video of herself hopping off a high board on Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas

Sun, sea and... diving 55ft from the top of a cruise into what looks like far too tiny a pool to be safe below.

While most of us would think of a cruise as a relaxing experience where you can watch the world go by, visit new cities and sip cocktails by the pool, diver Ginni van Katwijk had other ideas when she boarded Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas.

In a video posted to Instagram, the diver showed the view from a high dive board and just how effortlessly and confidently she can go from 55ft in the air to in the pool below.

Social media users were certainly impressed with some admitting to feeling uneasy at the view alone, let alone the prospect of diving.

While terrifying enough on land, things have been known to get choppy on cruise ships.

For thrill-seekers hoping to give it a go, only trained professionals can jump from the high deck into the pool, not passengers.

The cruise ship holds more than 5,000 passengers and crew and many are likely delighted to see such mesmerizing performances from Katwijk and the high diving team while at the AquaTheater onboard.

In the clip, Katwijk shows just how small the pool looks below the diving board.

She points to the exact point she is aiming for, while also pointing out other areas within the pool before giving a thumbs-up and psyching herself up for the jump.

Turning to the camera, Katwijk began pumping herself up saying she was going to do the dive just like normal.

"Easy peasy," she added, just before leaping off and pulling some acrobatic moves before landing exactly where she'd aimed for.

Yeah... You couldn’t pay me a million dollars to make this leap... well, I mean of course you could, rent is expensive, but you get the idea.

Other Instagram users seemed to share my anxiousness and let the diver know in her clip that has now gone viral.

“My anxiety is going crazy and I’m not even in the video,” one user wrote.

“Having the guts to climb that high is a challenge within itself for me,” commented another.

While a third wrote: “The types of screams I would have scrumpt seeing a body fly by me whilst sipping on a pina colada.”

A fourth added: "That should be illegal."

And a final user questioned: "How is this allowed?"
