People discover bizarre triangle shaped tower at Area 51 on Google Maps and it's left them terrified

A structure has seemingly appeared at Area 51 leaving conspiracy theorists mind blown.

Located in southern Nevada, Area 51 regularly rumored to know a great deal about unidentified flying objects, with many more conspiracists claiming it is where the US government harbor alien life, so when people discovered a bizarre triangular shaped tower on Google Maps inside its premises, it has sparked conversation.

The screenshot details a mysterious structure with a circular concrete base and a dirt track both surrounding it and traveling past it.

While we're unlikely to gain any answers asking the CIA exactly what it is, people have suggested that it could even be an 'air traffic control tower'.

Hypothetically, if aliens were landing inside Area 51, Earth's travel brochure would have to be extremely lucrative - just as you'd imagine Men in Black's was, as customs was fairly busy in the epic sci-fi comedy.

Anyway, taking to Reddit, one user posted: "I'm convinced that there was ever anything actually interesting going on at area 51 that by now it isn't anymore. It has the most public attention of any government secret site so why would they park any of the good stuff there at this point?"

"It was built to specifically provoke theoretical conversation," another commented.

While a third posted: "Area 51 is the facility they want you to know about so they can freely do whatever at all the black sites nobody knows about."

The official name of Area 51 is in fact the Nevada Test and Training Range, and according to the government, is now used as a training range for the US Air Force.

It wasn't until 2013 that the government even acknowledged its existence.

Back to the tower... which many assumed had just been built recently, but those assumptions were far from right.

It is a 'communication tower used for military purposes', according to unconfirmed sources.

According to a conspiracy-focused website, Dreamland Resort, it first appeared back in 2005 - so two decades ago.

"This new tall structure near the RCS range at the north end of Area 51 was built between Sept. 28, 2005 and January 17, 2006. It is triangular in shape, approximately 155 ft. tall and the three sides are about 30 ft. wide," it wrote.

"Comparing various satellite images it appears that the tower can rotate around its vertical center axis. There are no support buildings nearby, but the proximity to the RCS rage could suggest that it is controlled from there."
