A family member of one of the girls who was reportedly drugged by their friend's dad has spoken out on how the girls are doing.

A group of 12-year-olds attended a sleepover in August of last year, when the father of the girl's home they were at, Michael Meyden, allegedly spiked their smoothies with drugs.

He then proceeded to do 'tests' on the girls while they were asleep in his Oregon home to see if the drugs had kicked in.

It's believed he used benzodiazepine, a depressant that slows the nervous system, as a means of drugging the schoolgirls.

The parents of the girls were alerted to the incident after one of them sent a frantic text asking to be picked up because she didn't feel safe.

Part of her chilling message read: "Mom please pick me up and say I had a family emergency. I don’t feel safe. I might not respond but please come get me [crying emoji], Please. Please pick up. Please. PLEASE!!"

When she couldn't get through to her sleeping parents, she contacted a family friend instead who came to collect her in the early hours of the morning.

As per an affidavit, when the first friend arrived home, her parents went back to retrieve the other two 12-year-old girls.

57-year-old Meyden has since charged with three felony counts of causing another person to ingest a controlled substance, three felony counts of applying a schedule IV controlled substance to the body of a minor and three misdemeanor counts of delivering to a minor a schedule IV controlled substance.

Eight months on from the harrowing ordeal, a family member of one of the girl who was reportedly drugged has issued an update on how the schoolgirls are doing.

"It’s a lot to process," the unnamed individual revealed to The Post.

"There’s been a lot of therapy, a lot of nightmares. These girls were traumatized by this man."

They also noted that the young girls might end up having to face Meyden again in court if they're called to testify - something they described as a 'terrifying' prospect.

"The level of trauma is off the charts," they continued.

Meyden handed himself in at the Clackamas County Jail, Oregon City, on February 28.

He's pleaded not guilty to the numerous charges he's facing and is currently free on a $50,000 bond.

The father-of-two, who reportedly now has no contact with his children, is next due in court in June.
