A woman hit the big time after placing a tiny, last minute $12.50 bet.
These days, $12.50 would just about get you a Big Mac meal at McDonald's, but this lady definitely got much, much more for her money.
According to Investopedia, there's a one-in-5,000 to one-in-about-34-million of winning the top prize on a slot machine, making it one of the worst games to play at a casino when it comes to your odds of winning.

However, this player still took her chances - and it most definitely paid off.
The unnamed woman had been playing on the slots at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, Florida, in August 2023, and just as she was about to leave, decided to have one last spin before she went home.
Not only that, but she upped the bet from $5 to $12.50 for the last spin - a small decision which turned out to drastically increase her winnings.

That's because on the final spin she netted a whopping $1,253,321.04 on the Dollar $torm slot machine.
The casino posted a picture of her after her big win. They said: "She decided to put one last bill in the machine before she left and changed her bet from $5.00 to $12.50 and won BIG!"
But even this monster win pales in comparison to the biggest slot machine wins of all time.
One extremely lucky person managed to land a $17.3 million prize at M Resort in Henderson. Not only did the anonymous winner scoop a huge jackpot, but they also won using some free credits they had knocking around. Not bad.

However, the largest win on record on a slot machine happened at the Excalibur Casino in Las Vegas. The player bet $100 on the slot machine, a pretty hefty bet when you think how they can stack up.
But on this rare occasion it was clearly worth it, as the player walked away with a staggering $39.7 million.
If you are planning on hitting the slot machines any time soon, remember that it's always very important to stay within your budget and not get swept up in the moment.

Big wins can be life-changing, but they are still very rare.
