It's not ideal to see a ghost at the best of times. But driving along an empty highway in the dark hours of the night?
That's absolutely not the place you want to be seeing something spooky.
But for one poor trucker, this became a reality.

Video footage shared by the Arizona trucker appears to show a ghostly apparition appearing on a highway road late at night.
William Church was driving towards Phoenix at 2:30am on March 11 when the spooky sighting occurred.
The figure appeared to be standing in the middle of the road, with the road markings seemingly visible through its legs.

Church maintained that what he saw was a ghost.
Talking to Fox 10 Phoenix, he said: "I actually twitched the wheel to miss whoever it was."
At the time of the sighting, he was taking over driving from Erika Lake, who was sat in the passenger seat.
She said: "At first, I thought it was a human, and then when you can't really see the face and the top of the body up, I wondered what, and we were thinking maybe it was a ghost."

When the pair pulled up at the next stop, they took a look at the footage as captured on the dash cam.
"We don't know if it was a person or something spiritual or something, but it was in a form of a human. That's all i know," Church remarked.
Since the video went online, it has sparked a lot of debate.

Jerrod Hogle, a Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Arizona, has weighed in on the sighting.
Hogle, who is an international authority on Gothic literature, said: "There could be another explanation, but there's also the possibility, like, with flying objects.
"It could be from alien places. They could be supernatural, or this could be a ghostly figure.
"It's appealing to think that it might be supernatural, but there's also a possibility of another explanation, and it's sort of fun to be on the cutting edge of one or the other without having to decide."

And nobody demonstrated this more than people on the internet, who wasted no time in speculating and discussing their own sightings.
One person wrote: "Spirits, Ghosts, entities whatever you would like to call them, they are always with us."
A Phoenix resident even chimed in: "Lived there for 8 years. There actually right now to visit with family. And the stuff I’ve seen is insane."
However, not everybody was convinced.
One skeptic wrote: "That has to be an optical illusion [...] that light down the road is reflecting off that sign to the right of the image."
What do you think?
