Almost decade on from the release of Grand Theft Auto V, fans of the game are counting down the months until the release of the sixth edition — but they may also have to count their cash to see if they can afford it.
An official release date for the highly anticipated game is yet to be released, but Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has hinted that it could be hitting shelves as early as next year.
He recently teased: "We have a very robust pipeline of titles and we have a great outlook for fiscal 2025 where we’ve reiterated our belief that we’ll generate about $8 billion in net bookings and over $1 billion in adjusted operating cash flow."

The fiscal 2025 window suggests that the game will be released between 1 April, 2024 and 31 March, 2025.
As the hype grows bigger amid speculation of when gamers can get their hands on GTA 6, people are also eager to know how much it could set them back, and they're not overly pleased with the rumored price.
According to Dexerto, it's believed that GTA 6 could be priced at an eye-watering $150 — almost $100 more than its predecessor GTA V.

Upon its 2013 release, GTA V came in at $59.99 for the standard edition and $79.99 for the special edition.
There was, however, also a $150 exclusive GameStop edition.
In light of the price rumors, GTA fans have taken to X - formerly known as Twitter- to share their thoughts on it.
And while some are more than happy to pay the hefty sum, others have said they won't be purchasing it.

Sharing a GIF of a stressed-looking Cillian Murphy, one disgruntled X-user wrote: "Me trying to comprehend why a f**king video game would cost 150 bucks."
"$150?????? you might as well sub to my 0F at that point," said another, as a third commented: "Yeah well rumor it to cost $70 or we ain’t buying."
"Whoa thats really expensive for a game," suggested someone else.

Another person penned: "For all this wait and it’s price, the game better be able to let me do whatever I want."
Elsewhere, others didn't flinch at the $150 price tag and even suggested they'd pay more for GTA 6 if it came to it.
"I’m still buying that mf. Been waiting too damn long not to buy it. Plus that $150 will be for another 10 years of playing. So imo it’s worth it," said one person.

Echoing similar sentiments, someone else wrote: "10+ years of replayability and constant free content updates. That's more than worth it."
"I’d pay double to be honest," said another fan.
While there's been much speculation about GTA 6 amid the recent leaks, Rockstar are yet to make any official announcements.
