A man who has been accused of murdering and beheading his own father shared a horrifying motive.

Justin Mohn was charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, possession of an instrument of crime, and terrorism.

It is also alleged that Mohn filmed the assault and posted the video on YouTube.

In the video, Mohn can allegedly be seen holding up his father's head and calling for violence against the federal government.

It is alleged that Mohn, 32, shot his father, who was a federal worker, before decapitating him using a knife and a machete.

Authorities have said that the 14.5-minute video had remained on social media for several hours before it was taken down for violating the community guidelines.

According to a police report, Mohn appeared to read from a script before picking up his father's severed head to show to the camera.

He went on to call his father a 'traitor' and rant about 'far-left woke mobs', as well as immigrants and the LGBTQ+ community.

In a news conference, Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn said: "It's quite horrifying how many views we understand it had before it was taken down."

YouTube has said in a statement that the video was taken down and it is working to take down any re-uploads of the clip.

Schorn said: "This individual was acting with clear mind, aware of his actions and proud of his consequences."

She added that he had a 'clear plan' when he attacked his father, 68-year-old Michael Mohn.

The attorney said: "This individual was acting with clear mind, aware of his actions and proud of his consequences."

Describing the contents of the video, First Assistant District Attorney Edward Louka said: "Mr. Mohn, based on his beliefs, is making a call to arms to achieve the aims he believes in. He did that through violence.

"The violence was the murder of his father, who, obviously not a coincidence, was a federal employee. He essentially needed that murder to get his message across."

As a part of the video was played to the court, Mohn appeared to be smiling.

"That is a little disturbing as well, but I will let that speak for itself," Louka said.

An attorney representing Mohn said: "You’ve seen the video. It was played in court today. It tells a pretty compelling story as to who he is. You watch that and I think you can learn a lot."
