43-year-old Brandon Durham was shot and killed by a police officer in his own home, with his family calling the it an ‘unlawful murder’.

Bodycam footage of the incident, which took place on November 12 in the early hours of the morning, showed police arriving at the Las Vegas property. During the 911 call, Durham had described the appearance of the intruder and said he was locking himself in the bathroom.

He had also told the operators that he was inside the home with his 15-year-old daughter.

When police entered the home, they found property owner Durham and a woman struggling over a knife.

Boudreaux was not hit by gunfire and was subsequently arrested by the police. She was booked for home invasion with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and domestic violence.

Durham died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office. The officer who fired his gun is 26-years-old and has been with the Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 2021.

An investigation has been launched to determine whether he acted appropriately.

Durham’s family saw the bodycam footage before it was released to the public and have called the shooting a ‘complete disservice’.

According to a Fox 5 Vegas report Diane Wright, Durham's sister said: “When I viewed the video, he was at least eight feet away from my brother who was struggling with the intruder inside the home, screaming, ‘Help me! help me!’ The officer shoots my brother in the head.”

Durham’s daughter, Isabella Durham also commented: “My father always feared the police and even with that fear, he asked me to call the police. I dialed my phone and handed it to him and that was the last time I saw him alive.”

UNILAD has contacted the Las Vegas Police for comment.
