A Michigan couple were left shocked after discovering an eerie 100-year tunnel beneath their home.
No matter how long we live in certain digs, it's certainly not rare to discover something new from within our own four walls.
Typically, you see amazing discoveries when home renovations are made as you are likely digging up an area not seen by the naked eye.

Well, Hayley Gilmartin and her husband Trevor know all about that.
The couple live on Lake Huron - a body of water separating the US from Canada.
And while they were removing an old, broken jacuzzi in the middle of their house, they discovered a 20-foot-deep tunnel leading to a mysterious room below.
You can take a look at their eerie discovery in the video below:
Hayley told Newsweek recently that the lake is connected to the room by a six-foot pipe.

Of course, the discovery is rather creepy, but the couple put on brave faces for what was to come next.
Hayley said: "We scuba-dived in the river and found the other end of it, which is a huge tunnel," before noting that it's 'impossible' to pump the water out because the room 'is still getting water from Lake Huron and the rivers that it is connected to'.
The Michigan couple are taking social media users along for the ride on their eerie discovery, informing the world as they go on the next steps.

"It was a creepy discovery," Hayley said.
"We tested the water and found that it is safe. That’s when my husband, Trevor, decided to scuba dive and snorkel it. We scuba-dived in the river and found the other end of it which is a huge tunnel."
Hayley and Trevor purchased the house back in 2020, and have since been speaking to neighbors about its history.

As well as doing some extra research, the couple discovered that there were a few other houses with similar tunnels.
Haley told Newsweek: "The wildest theory we've heard is that it was used in the prohibition days to smuggle alcohol over from Canada since it's so close. Although we do find many prohibition era bottles in our area."
This would mean the tunnel was in use between 1920 and 1933.
In a viral clip making the discovery, Hayley began by showing off the original jacuzzi before revealing the manhole cover.

The couple then go into the depths with a torch, where they discover water and debris covering the dark area.
A wooden panelled wall was then shown, which Hayley and Trevor believe leads to the tunnel.
The video quickly blew up on social media, with Hayley saying: "I expected my 50 friends to see the video and instead woke up to thousands of likes [and] views, which was crazy. It’s still continuing to blow up."
