The teenager allegedly brought a handgun to campus and shot at students of mixed grades inside a study hall.
A second-grade pupil called 911 just before 11am, police said.
Minutes later, police officers stormed the school and found multiple victims with gunshot wounds and Rupnow deceased.

Chief of Madison Police Shon Barnes said in a conference on Monday night that the suspected shooter went by the name 'Samantha' and she had been a student at the school.
Evidence suggests Rupnow died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while on the way to the hospital, Barnes said.
An alleged document that is believed to have been Rupnow's 'manifesto' has since been circulating on social media.

The locked six-page document, alleged to have been shared by her online boyfriend, is titled 'War Against Humanity'.
However, Barnes said the cops have been 'unable to verify' the authenticity of the document.
He added: "We’re certainly aware that it’s been posted and the person who posted it, alleged to have a connection with the victim."
The chief said the information has been shared with the FBI for help but police are still investigating to determine the suspect's motive.

Officers are interviewing her parents, who they say are 'cooperating', and searching her home.
Barnes explained that they are still working to learn as much as they can.
Investigators believe Rupnow used a 9mm pistol and police told reporters that a handgun was recovered from the scene.
The names of the two victims who died have not been identified.

Of the six injured, Barnes said two students are in critical condition in hospital with 'life-threatening' injuries and the other four sustained non-life threatening injuries, two of which have been released from hospital in a 'stable condition'.
Barnes described the incident as a 'sad day for our community and for our country'.
President Joe Biden also called the shooting 'shocking and unconscionable', urging Congress to act now to combat gun violence.
