Elderly woman decapitated as she plunged to her death from NYC building

The 81-year-old woman leapt from the 28th story of an Upper East Side apartment

The decapitated body of an 81-year-old woman was found in the Upper East Side after police suspect she tragically jumped to her death.

The woman, who has yet to be identified, allegedly leapt from the 28th floor apartment at the Park Regis Apartments complex in New York City at around 3.30pm.

Witnesses believe her body became caught on something at the side of the building which features balconies, and resulted in her horrifically being decapitated.

A resident told the New York Post: “I pulled up just as she was laying there, she had no head.

“The head and the arm were clean cut off on the other side, they ended up on the terrace.”

The terrace is on the other side of the barbed fence where some of her clothing reportedly ended up, as witnesses claim the fence bent upon impact with the body.

The NYPD did not release a motive for the woman jumping from the building, but confirmed the incident to the Daily Mail.

Another person who saw the aftermath claimed: “Everyone started rushing towards the body but she was gone.

“Her body landed there but her head and leg hit the fence there, you can see it’s bent, there were clothes and blood stuck there.”

The elderly woman was just one of two people who plunged to their deaths on that day.

Officers quickly cordoned off the luxury apartment block with tape as several police cars arrived to the scene to begin their investigation.

It was reported by police that a man jumped from the 17th floor of his building.
