Law enforcement said a 17-year-old girl gave her 33-year-old boyfriend five hours to murder his mom or she would commit the harrowing crime herself.
In 2023, Jonathon Jones, then 33, was ordered to stay away from teen Kaitlyn Coones after he was convicted for charges relating to his relationship with a minor.
Coones was just 15 when she became involved with Jones, with the latter pleading guilty to child endangerment.

Jones was forced to wear a GPS tracking device after he was released following his conviction, but the court order was broken when he ultimately met up with the teen once more.
Coones allegedly escaped a children’s home in Canton, Ohio, to meet her older boyfriend at a local restaurant in April 2023.
The teenager never returned to the home, with officials understandably concerned for her welfare considering the past history.

As per WOIO, a detective for the Sylvania Township Police Department testified in court: "Kaitlyn had told Jonathan, that they needed to do something about his mother because she was preventing them from being together and she gave him five hours to do something about her, and at one point in the interview, she even mentioned to killing her."
When the five hours had gone by and Jones hadn't done it, Coones allegedly gave him another hour.
Prosecutor Andy Lastra alleged Coones then attacked Jones' mother, Nicole, 53, in her Sylvania Township home as she stood in front of a fridge unaware of the teen's presence.

While Jones didn't directly kill his mother, he did help Coones discard the body, according to WEWS.
Allegedly in the living room at the time of the murder, it's reported that Jones nipped to the shop to buy garbage bags to wrap and move his mom's body to an apartment complex dumpster.
As Jones was still wearing his GPS tracker, police were able to track them down pretty quickly as they fled to Mexico.
The pair were ultimately found in Chihuahua, with them having Nicole's ID and credit cards.

The detective said Coones later admitted to killing Nicole during an interview with FBI agents.
When the pair eventually got to court for their crimes, Jones was handed an initial 54-month sentence due to the earlier charges of his involvement with Coones.
While Coones' lawyer insisted she was a 'victim' of Jones, who wasn't supposed to have contact with her, she was tried as an adult in court.
The teenager, who is now 18, was charged with aggravated murder, murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse and was sentenced to a life behind bars, with an option for parole after 25 years.

Jones, 34, received the same sentencing.
