A wife who became a widow on her wedding day has spoken of the brutal grief she has had to deal with.

Speaking to The Sun about the fateful wedding day on June 19 last, Davis opened up on how crushed she was after realizing she and her 48-year-old partner had only been married for one hour before he died.
“It was so surreal,” said Davis, who lives in Omaha, Nebraska.
“Only ten minutes before, we’d finished saying our wedding vows, promising to cherish each other until death do us part.

“Now my husband was being loaded into an ambulance to go straight to hospital. The paramedics needed to work on him, so I followed in another car.
“When I got to the hospital the doctors made me wait outside, as they were trying to resuscitate him.
“It was 40 agonizing minutes before I was allowed in.”
She was told that he had a cardiac arrest in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and there was nothing they could do to save him.

Davis said she begged the doctors do something when she saw him lying on the hospital bed but was told he had died.
She remarked that she had only just lost her father to cancer a few months prior, making this loss an even worse gut-punch.
“The doctors told me that he’d suffered a blood clot that had broken off and travelled to his heart, causing the massive cardiac arrest. It was devastating.

“Years ago, he had one blood clot and was on medication for it. But now this time there was no bringing him back.”
Davis had also explained that throughout the ceremony, Toraze had complained about being unwell and unable to breathe.
She said since he was wearing a full suit and due it being a hot day she thought he simply might be having a panic attack.
Despite the difficult time without her husband, she said she is happy the pair were able to pledge their love.

“I just had to try and get some comfort from the fact that Toraze and I had actually had the chance to say our wedding vows, and pledge our love to each other.
“I’d thought I was the luckiest woman alive to have married Toraze. He was such a gentle giant.”
A GoFundMe page has since been set up to pay for funeral expenses and the Davis family.
