A Walmart employee has taken to TikTok to reveal why staff badges can differ in color and what it all means.

If you've ever wandered into Walmart, ended up speaking to an assistant or two and noticing some employees wear a white badge with a yellow strip on it and others a white badge with a blue strip, then congratulations, you're already observant than most people.

If you've then questioned why there are two different colored badges that employees wear, then fear not, because a Walmart worker has cleared up what the two different colors mean. And it's pretty important you know the difference.

A TikToker - who goes by thee username @candy.cream4 - took to the social media platform to share a 'public service announcement' revealing why different employees at Walmart have different colored badges.

The employee points to a badge with the name 'Gavin' on a yellow background, explaining: "So this badge right here is aged 16-18 years old. OK, that means a minor."

The Walmart worker then points to another badge which reads 'Melissa' on a blue background, stating: "This badge, is over 18 OK? Adult."

The TikToker continues: "So for all you people who want to be giving these people with this badge a hard time or flirting with them? Just know you're flirting with a minor. OK?

"Pass this along to whoever you want to, make this go viral. This color is a minor, this color is an adult."

And it's not taken long for people to flood to the comments to weigh in.

One user said: "I did not know this thanks."

"I had no idea they had different colors. When I was working for Walmart, over 10 years ago, everyone had the same badge," another added.

A third commented: "I love you. Thank you for my education."

A fourth wrote: "I thought yellow means management. I'm guessing each Walmart is different? Or Walmart in state at least."

And a fifth added: "I work at Walmart an yes that is true."

Walmart itself confirmed the different colored badges meanings in a post to Facebook in 2021.

The post - uploaded by Walmart Redmond - reads: "Did you know that a yellow name badge means our associate is a minor? We hire associates as young as 16 years old and provide free online bachelor’s degrees. Great way to build a resume!"

UNILAD has reached out to @candy.cream4 and contacted Walmart for comment.
