An Olympic figure skating pair stunned viewers and shocked judges as they took to the ice as the Joker and Harley Quinn.
The Beijing Winter Olympics officially kicked off today, February 4, with sports fans settling in for more than two weeks of bobsleighing, skiing — god, I'm so excited for the ski jump — curling, skating and plenty more.
We've only just begun, and two contestants from Germany have already baffled some viewers, while becoming a firm favourite with others. I have just one question: have you ever skated with the devil in the pale moonlight?
As part of the rhythm dance division of the figure skating competition, Tim Dieck and Katharina Mueller took to the ice dressed as the Clown Prince of Crime and Harley Quinn, with his costume reminiscent of Jared Leto's Joker in Suicide Squid and her outfit more closely resembling the character's outfit in Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

Their performance, which played out to the backing of Britney Spears' Toxic, was not a hit with the judges, scoring a rock-bottom score of 63.21 compared to their fellow contestants. USA's Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue topped the leaderboard with a score of 86.56.
While they'll likely feel disappointed with the score, they've become a hot topic on social media. 'That Joker/Harley Quinn ice skating dance routine was fire,' one user wrote. 'Will be distracted for at least a month by the figure skating team dressed as the Joker and Harley Quinn skating to a creepy cover of Toxic,' a second wrote.
'The German figure skating team dancing as Joker and Harley Quinn is my new favourite thing,' a third tweeted. 'Team Germany is skating as Harley Quinn And The Joker... I have to cheer for USA, right... RIGHT,' a fourth wrote.
Others weren't so sure what to think. 'Absolutely losing it watching these German ice dancers dressed as The Joker and Harley Quinn skating to a spooky cover of Toxic right now. Full cosplay at the Olympics I CANNOT,' one wrote.

'German ice dancing duo dressing like joker and Harley Quinn skating to a bluesy remix of toxic by Britney Spears is proof the American sphere of cultural influence has reached a new level of twistedness,' another tweeted.
'Turned on the Olympics and immediately saw a pairs figure skating routine where they were the Joker and Harley Quinn. Not watching sports anymore,' a third wrote.
