A woman has shared her hack for checking whether a date is being truthful about his relationship status, and it's so simple people can't believe they've not thought of it before.
It's a sad indictment of the world we live in, and a tale as old as time, but we all know someone who has returned from a first date thinking they've met the one, only to discover they're already spoken for.
While some guys get caught in a lie after a quick spot of social media stalking, others are better at keeping things under wraps.
According to one TikToker, however, there's a easy way to find out whether a guy you've gone home with already has a girlfriend: check their bathroom.

In a viral video, Maricela Carrillo revealed she always uses this quick hack when she goes round to a date's house, and showed what it looks like when you realise they've not been completely honest with you.
'So I hung out with this guy and I always check their bathroom to see if they have a gf…' the caption reads, before showing the results of the bathroom check.
In the clip, Maricela discovers menstrual pads, hair toner, a pair of toothbrushes and a can of hairspray.
'Bro it gets worse,' she says as she reveals what's behind the shower curtain: two loofahs, one black, and one pink.

We're not here to judge: maybe he lives with his sister, or maybe he just likes to make sure he's got spares of essential toiletries, but the hack has definitely got Maricela's followers thinking.
'He wasn't even trying to hide it,' one person commented, with another writing 'this is a whole red flag.'
'It's sad that this is what we have to do now to get some type of truth,' a third person posted.

Others were more sceptical, with one man commenting 'I have stuff from my ex and my daughter in my bathroom. Not the best way of finding out.'
But for Maricela, she wasn't about to take any chances. The TikToker explained in a comment that after finding the items she 'left something for her to find' and 'left straight after.'
Other commenters revealed they'd done the same in similar situations, with some saying they'd written a note on one of the items to warn the girl about her partner.
