A man has died in Bengaluru after a mechanical air pump was inserted into his rectum in what was supposed to be a prank.
Yogesh Ramajinappa, 24, died after his colon ruptured due to the increased pressure from the air being pumped into his body by his friend Murali, 23.
The 24-year-old had visited the CNS Bike Service Centre, where Murali was employed to get a two wheeler washed.

Police have confirmed that after the pair finished washing the motorbike, they began playing with an electric blow dryer which was used to wash the bikes.
A police report said that Murali had pointed the dryer first at Yogesh's face, then at his rear.
During the prank, the blow dryer went into his rectum, which began to fill with hot air, police said.

Reports conflict over whether the pump was inserted deliberately or by accident.
This resulted in hot air being pumped into Yogesh's body through his anus, causing his abdomen to expand.
Yogesh suffered from severe injuries to his abdomen from the pressure and collapsed unconscious to the ground. Murali and other friends present at the centre immediately rushed him to the hospital.
Doctors found that he had sustained massive damage to his intestines due to the high pressure of the hose, leaving him requiring emergency surgery.

Yogesh’s family found out about the situation while he was still in hospital, and he himself was able to attend a call with his sister when she rang, according to a report in the Times of India.
Unfortunately, his condition worsened on Tuesday and he was transferred to a private hospital for further treatment.
Tragically, Yogesh did not respond to the treatment and died in hospital at around 9.30 on Wednesday morning.

Murali has denied deliberately inserting the pump into Yogish' rectum.
A senior police officer told the Times of India: “We detained Murali on Wednesday. During interrogation, Murali claimed he didn't take the pipe near Yogesh's anus. He was holding it above the knee and didn't know it would rupture his anus."
According to police reports, Yogesh was originally from the city of Vijayapura, far to the north of Bengaluru. He worked in the city as a delivery agent, and police confirmed that he had been living with his grandmother in the Thanisandra neighbourhood in Northern Bengaluru.
Murali has been arrested since the incident, and a case has been filed at Sampigehalli police station.

This is under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code which deals with 'culpable homicide'.
Police have also confirmed that they are waiting for the results of a postmortem examination to figure out how badly Yogesh's organs were damaged during the horrific incident.
Murali has been detained at the Bengaluru Central Prison after his arrest.
