Tragedy has struck at a gender reveal party as a pilot crashed a small plane and died after releasing pink-dyed water.
On Sunday (3 September), a video was posted to X (formerly Twitter) that saw an expecting mother and father standing in front of a light-up ‘Oh, Baby’ sign, in San Pedro, Mexico.
The couple were surrounded by friends and family as they eagerly awaited to find out the gender of their unborn child.

At the beginning of the footage, the mum and dad-to-be could be seen holding hands as they waited in anticipation for the white jet to fly over them.
Eventually the plane - confirmed later to be flown by pilot Luis Ángel - came rocketing over the top of the couple before dropping a gush of pink water, revealing the couple are having a daughter.
At the same time that the pink shower was released, a cannon spewing out pink confetti was also let off nearby.

However, with all eyes on the happy couple, many of the guests missed that the Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee aircraft quickly began to spiral out of control.
Despite losing power over the aircraft, the pilot attempted to navigate the plane over a line of palm trees but ultimately continued to plunge into a tailspin.
According to Mexican news outlet Línea Directa Portal, Ángel, 32, eventually crashed the plane while he attempted to navigate it to safety.

After emergency services were called to the scene by a concerned guest, the 32-year-old was reportedly found lying in the wreckage by a volunteer and Red Cross paramedics.
As per Aviation Safety Network, the ‘left-hand wing failed after an emergency hopper release of (pink dyed) water during a gender reveal party’.

It is also reported that despite the pilot being transported to the Mexican Social Security Institute in Navolato, he was later pronounced dead.
The clip of the tragic incident has since gained attention across social media.
One X user slammed the party and said: “These reveals are out of control.”
A second commented: “No reason to blame the couple. This could have happened anywhere. It’s strange that the plane lost a wing. It didn’t look like he pulled up aggressively. Sad to see.”

“The weirdest part for me is that the person who took the video just continued filming the couple celebrating instead of running to help the pilot. I guess most of the people didn't even notice,” replied another.
