A bizarre video of what appears to be a motionless corpse being pulled out of the pond by a police officer is going viral due to the apparent ‘dead man’ miraculously waking up.

Earlier this week, officials in the Warangal district of Telangana, India, were informed that a dead body had been floating around in a lake for five hours.

After receiving the call from Reddypurman Kovelakunt residents, a team of police officers headed down to the scene to scout out the apparent corpse for themselves.

Upon their arrival, the Kakatiya University cops discovered a shirtless man floating in the shallows of Hanamkonda Pond.

The man, who was wearing a pair of blue denim jeans, had allegedly been submerged from 7am to 12pm and caused panicked locals to phone the cops.

In the now-viral clip, one of the attending officers can be seen holding onto another person as they attempt to drag the ‘dead body’ out of the water.

However, as the anonymous man grabbed the body’s arm, the man in the water shot up, turned his head and revealed he was alive and well.

In the footage shared to X (formerly known as Twitter) the person behind the camera could be heard laughing as the man in the pond got out and attempted to plead his case to the officers.

According to the Hindustan Times, the man had decided to take a dip in the pond after working for 10 days straight in a nearby granite quarry.

It’s reported he’d just completed another intense 12-hour day and had accidentally fallen asleep while relaxing in the shallows.

After watching the ludicrous video, viewers have come out in droves to debate and discuss the bizarre incident.

One user on X said: “A guy can't even have 10 mins peace and relaxation in a muddy pond these days ffs," while a second typed: “Me after a single Saturday looking after the kids without my wife’s support…”

“Man, I would have screamed so loud if I was that cop,” wrote someone else.

A fourth viewer commented: “Nah being able to fall asleep on a random ass pond gotta be the coldest but most terrifying that in the world.”

And another user remarked: “What’s even more weird about this is that we see that this person was so overworked that rather than going home to sleep he rather ‘sleep’ in a pond to beat the exhaustion. Says more about our modern day working ethos.”
