State of Sonora officials have said the couple were in a jacuzzi just after 8pm on Tuesday at Sonoran Sea Resort.
Officials are still trying to work out exactly what happened in the lead up to the incident, but it is believed that the tub had ‘electric discharge’ ran through while people were still inside.
It wasn't until eyewitnesses recognised that the couple were not moving in the water when they called emergency services and started to perform CPR.
