The Olympics are now underway in Paris after an opening which was marked by a series of mishaps.
Things got off to a dramatic start when several 'nerve centres' of the French transport network were targeted by arson attacks.
But this wasn't the only part of the Olympic opening ceremony where things were starting to heat up, albeit most definitely not according to plan.

Paris departed from the more traditional stadium setting for its opening ceremony.
Instead, the athletes and performers paraded through Paris itself, including on barges on the Seine carrying each of the teams along, and performances at the Eiffel Tower.
Unfortunately, eagle-eyed viewers spotted that one performer had a rather specularly embarrassing wardrobe malfunction during the opening ceremony.
Let's just say we're not just talking ripping the seat of one's trousers here.

Many of the outfits donned by performers might best be described as the sort which are held together by nipple tape and thoughts and prayers.
In the case of this performer that means that undergarments are strained the absolute limit.
The unfortunate performer was spotted by some viewers as having had a testicle break loose during the opening ceremony.

An image of the unfortunate incident was posted on Twitter, leaving nothing whatsoever to the imagination.
The performer is seen posing in a black sequinned jacket with a bare chest, and a matching pair very tight sparkly black pants.
Unfortunately, the 'escapee' is not just peeking out either, but is fully out in something of a balls up for the ceremony.
It just goes to show that you simply can't be too careful when it comes to wearing very tight pants in public, especially if you're going to be in a major televised event.

The incident was not the only mishap to mar the opening ceremony, with the outdoor setting greeted by rain that drenched attendees.
Among the performers was Celine Dion, who shared her gruelling training ahead of her appearance.
"There’s one thing that will never stop, and that’s the will. It’s the passion. It’s the dream. It’s the determination,” Dion explained.

“The way I see it, I have two choices. Either I train like an athlete and work super hard, or I switch off and it’s over.
"I stay at home, listen to my songs, stand in front of the mirror and sing to myself.
“I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!”
