A disturbing simulation has demonstrated how a man survived after a three-and-a-half-foot long metal rod impaled his head.

Mohammad Tarique might be the luckiest man still alive on the planet after he survived a horrific car accident in Kolkata, India, back in 2018.

The incident saw the vehicle collide with a metal divider in the road which in turn flew into the car and pierced Tarique in the head.

The then-24-year-old was joined by his cousin when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the barrier and flipping the car on its back - trapping all four passengers inside.

Tarique was riding shotgun in the car, which they remained in until police cut them out.

YouTuber Zack D.Films created a simulation of how Tarique, who he doesn't mention by name, escaped with his life.

In the short video, the content creator says: "A meter long medal rod impaled a man's head during a car accident in 2018.

"Now, the rod pierced through his skull; entering just above his eye and exiting through the side of his head - and miraculously it missed vital areas of the brain and major blood vessels, sparing his life.

"The operation was delicate and lasted several hours, but they successfully removed the rod without further damage and the man ended up living."

While it was nothing short of a miracle that saw Mohammad escape with his life, although tragically his mobility was restricted and his speech became slurred.

The crash unfolded in the early hours of the morning and Tarique had to wait some time before he was eventually cut out at around 4.30am - by that time he had already lost a huge amount of blood and had fallen into a comatose state.

As per The Times of India, Dr Binod Kumar Sighania carried out the surgery on the young man.

The senior consultation neurosurgeon said: "Our emergency doctors immediately started resuscitation and blood transfusion.

"They tried to stablise his condition, while the brain and spine surgeon reached the hospital in another half an hour. The fact the patient was rushed in within the golden hour also helped."

While Tarique's cousin Azizul Haque, who was in the car during the near fatal accident, added: "Apart from Tarique the rest escaped with minor injuries.

"I was shocked to see the rod stuck in his head. Given the kind of injury, we had given up hope."

At the time doctors were hopeful his mobility and speech could be improved.
