BMW has come out with a car which can change colour whenever you want, which sounds like a pretty cool concept.
This is the BMW i Vision Dee, the sort of car from some futuristic, sci-fi setting which will either guide us into the future or remind us that there's a reason this stuff is the preserve of fiction.
The car's most obvious selling point is that it can change colour to look however you'd like it to, and if nothing else, you'll no longer be tied down to agonising over which paint colour your car will plump for as you can alter it at your whim.

That being said, it's probably for the best that you don't forget exactly where you parked it otherwise you'll be roaming up and down the supermarket car park trying to find your motor.
It's also probably for the best if you don't mess around with changing the design while on the road, as that might be just a tad distracting for other drivers.
Last year, BMW unveiled a colour changing concept car which would not go on sale to the public, but this time around they've refined things and added in a whole new range of features.

Being a concept car, the BMW i Vision Dee isn't likely to be going on sale to the public, but the sort of features they're trialling with it could eventually be incorporated into future models of cars a few years down the line.
On the plus side, if the 'innovative E Ink Technology' which allows them to change the car's colour does ever become available on a retail model, then you could add racing stripes to your car.
You could even go for the flames down the side if you're having a midlife crisis, then easily get rid of them once the crisis is over, all without opening a single tin of paint.
In addition to the colour changing exterior, plenty of work has gone into making the insides of the car a modern and technologically advanced place to be.

The car comes with an interactive companion who will keep you company on the road, which is another futuristic but potentially weird feature.
That 'Dee' in the car's name stands for 'Digital Emotional Experience', and the car has a digital companion who BMW say 'interacts emotionally with you and accompanies you on a journey between physical and virtual reality'.
At the risk of setting people on the path to some kind of situation like the Joaquin Phoenix movie Her, BMW claim their car comes with 'a voice full of personality' which can also be heard outside the vehicle.

They claim 'she intelligently responds to you and the surroundings' and that 'through dialogue a natural and emotional relationship between human and vehicle is developed'.
We've heard that some people really love their cars, but a car that can talk back to you and tries to develop and emotional relationship might be a step too far.
