GTA VI is set to be unplayable for millions on release day

Sorry, guys

The new Grand Theft Auto game could very well be unplayable for millions of people when it's finally released.

Yep, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but despite having waited for what feels like an eternity to get their hands on GTA VI, many fans won't get a chance to play it immediately.

Like any instalment of the iconic Rockstar series, as soon as a new addition is announced, rumours start flying about.

It's a veritable Pandora's Box of tittle tattle, with fans eager to know what to expect, and trying anything they can to get a sneak peek at it.

And one of the claims doing the rounds at the moment is what console the game will be available to play on when it eventually comes out.

For example, back in 2013, when GTA V hit the shelves, it was for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which were actually nearing the end of their time on this mortal coil.

A year later, it was then made compatible with the PS4 and Xbox One, before moving onto the PC in 2015.

Since then, however, huge leaps and bounds have been made in the world of gaming, with incredibly powerful next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S bursting onto the scene.

And it's been reported that GTA VI may not be made immediately available for older consoles when it comes out.

Experts have speculated that Rockstar's plan is to release it on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, meaning that the likes of the PS4s of this world will be left in the dust.

Just last month, insider Tom Henderson GTA VI will most likely bypass last-gen consoles in order to focus on improving the game and pushing the boundaries of what can be done.

Writing for Insider Gaming, he said that it's likely the game might actually not land until 2025.

"According to my own sources, one of the major reasons for such a long-winded 'delay' is that GTA 6 will release on current-generation consoles only," Henderson wrote.

The new game is rumoured to hit shelves in 2025.

"With the tentative 2024 date being planned as far back as 2021, it was a means of ensuring that GTA 6 would have a sufficient console market to release on."

Sorry, guys.

Just a few weeks ago a small portion of the new map was leaked online, which sent fans into overdrive.

The new screenshot was posted on the discussion website by user pstuddy, with the headline ‘A tiny portion of the world map’.

There appears to be two new alleged - low resolution - images from GTA VI, the one on the left-hand side of the screenshot, shows an unknown character standing in what looks to be a factory yard of some kind. While on the right-hand side, we see a portion of the apparent map.
