As though that isn't enough to keep you motivated during training, Huawei also worked closely with the dsm-firmenich running team to refine the running power metric, which enables amateur runners to keep track of their exercise intensity.

There is also a wheelchair mode, which will identify specific pushing motions, distance, push count, and frequency.

How to use the watch to improve your marathon pace

Built with expert insight from Eliud Kipchoge, who has a sub-two hour marathon record, the Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 is designed to help seasoned and amateur runners.

It will provide personalised training plans based on the race you're working towards with pacing guidance and post-race achievement sharing on offer.

For those of you not quite ready to get behind the starting line, the watch also boasts smart training programs, which can be tailored depending on your level of experience.

For instance, these include interval runs, long, slow distance, and tempo runs.
