iPod from 2011 has people shocked by what apps used to look like

If you needed reminding of your age and just how long ago 2011 was, then you came to the right place.

If you needed reminding of your age and just how long ago 2011 was, then you came to the right place.

Yes, 2011 was a whole 12 years ago. Feel old yet? And if you needed proof of just how different and simpler times were back then, look no further than Apple iPods and what apps used to look like over a decade ago.

Warning - If you were born any later than the year 2000, prepare for your eyes open wide in shock:

TikTok account Nostalgia Birds - @nostalgiabirds - has shared multiple videos of 'old iOS' and Apple products, transporting many of us back to our childhoods.

From how certain games appeared, to not being required to log into apps, as well as the iconic ringtone options - I frequently used 'Bark' to wind up my dog - and how could we forget the stock image wallpapers.

It was a simpler - and arguably much better - time. We were all younger, more care-free and playing Paper Toss or Flappy Bird helped relieve the little stress we had in life as we faced exams such as GCSE's or A-Levels - little did our younger brains know just how much harder adult life is compared to pythagorus' theorem.

*Sobs*.

UNILAD re-shared footage created by Nostalgia Birds to Instagram and people have flooded to the post in awe over the old app designs.

One Instagram user said: "Another great withdrawal."

"Where is the Zippo app and the Tom talking cat," another added.

A third commented: "Man's got vine. What a time."

And a final resolved: "This is so beautiful."

Simply beautiful.

A TikToker who goes by @ipadpants has also shared their extensive app collection from the iPod touch they used in middle school between 2012-2013.

Remember Dum Ways to Die? Jetpack Joyride? The Moron Test? Stickman?

Let's just take a minute's silence for all the gems of apps that no longer litter our home screens, replaced instead with workplace apps, banking apps, schedules, planners and to do lists. *Sobs*

Summing up what everyone else is thinking, ipadpants' caption reads: "I miss this so much."

So, how about we all take a united stand, ditch our phones, iPads and other modern technological gear and revert back to the simpler and happier time of the iPod? Anyone?
