A YouTuber who bought $8,000 worth of returned tech to try and make a profit ended up getting 'screwed' when he opened up the boxes.
With competing brands constantly trying to one-up each other with their impressive new devices, it's no secret that tech can lose its value pretty quickly.
People often return their old tech to make way for the newest product on the market, so YouTuber Harrison Nevel decided to try and take advantage by seeing if he could turn them into a profit.

In a video shared to his channel earlier this year, Nevel explained he'd bought a 'pallet's worth of Apple products' which had been valued at around $8,000 - but he managed to get them for just $1,266.98.
Nevel got the items for such a bargain because he used a site which featured 'return[s], display pieces, [and] open box' products, allowing him to get 'really good deals' and potentially 'make a lot of profit'.
"Let's hope we can break even and hopefully make some profit," he said.

When he set about opening the products, Nevel realized that many of the items weren't actually Apple branded, including earbuds, headphones, a smartwatch, and even what he identified as a fake iPhone.
Thankfully, there were some real products in there, including a real iMac, a MacBook Pro, a charger and some AirPods - though a quick investigation found the AirPods were all broken.
To figure out how much each item might realistically be worth, Nevel looked at what they were selling for on eBay - a method that continually proved disappointing for him.

He learned the iMac was worth around $150, giving him at least some success after he bought it for $140.
However, given the amount of loss he took on the pallet, the rare win wasn't enough to stop Nevel from claiming he'd been 'screwed' with his purchase, saying it was 'so irritating'.
"I would say we probably have $500 total worth of product, and there's $1200 spent," he concluded.

Nevel decided to list one whole box of miscellaneous products on his website for less than what he paid in the hope that someone else would be able to make money off it, so it's safe to say his big purchase didn't pay off in the end.
And viewers have been left shocked after seeing what Nevel unpacked, with one person advising: "lol bro u gotta find better places to get this stuff."
Nevel admitted that buying returns pallets can be a risk, so here's hoping he's more successful in the future!
