Drivers have been pimping their rides since the dawn of, well, automobiles... but one Tesla owner has given a whole new meaning to 'custom car.'

We've already seen people turn their already eye-catching Cybertrucks into huge mirrors, while others have successfully built their own version of the statement trucks.

But if your car's not made of stainless steel, you might find other ways to stand out from the crowd.

And one YouTuber has done exactly that by replacing his white Tesla's ordinary wheels with huge,10-foot buggy ones.

They're the kind of wheels you'd expect to see in old-timey movies, attached to horse-drawn carriages.

It's a strange sight to behold, but even weirder still - the car actually drives.

The Tesla is filmed zooming around, suspended in the air thanks to its mega wheels.

Perhaps the most shocking part of all, though, is when the vehicle is flipped upside it continues to operate.

The mastermind behind the stunt is car channel WhistlinDiesel, who tested whether a Tesla could drive upside down in a March 2023 YouTube video.

The answer was a resounding yes, although he did struggle to get into the car as the new wheels meant the doors couldn't be opened the full way - he had to squeeze in through a small gap instead.

"It looks like the car is just floating," he says in the video - and we have to agree.

Flipping the car was no mean feat - it involved a crane and a whole lot of precision. Once it was over, he could drive - but not exactly in comfort, as his head ended up jammed on the roof of the car.

Clips of the epic feat have since gone viral on social media, with a recent Twitter post racking up more than 300,000 views.

Some Tesla enthusiasts were in awe, but ultimately, the unusual stunt divided opinion.

"File this under coolest things I didn’t know I wanted to see!" one person gushed, as a second wrote: "That's some next-level creativity! Can't believe he took it to that extreme."

Others weren't so amused.

One person joked: "Elon didn’t mean this when he said ‘reinvent the wheel,'" as a second wondered: "Cool but what is the point? You can't drive upside down for long, you wouldn't be allowed to drive this on a public road, most likely the car warranty is gone?"
