Elon Musk is constantly pushing boundaries when it comes to his ambitious projects.

And with a net worth of more than $400 billion, the world is pretty much his oyster.

From SpaceX winning an $83 million contract to help destroy the International Space Station, to Tesla's self-driving robotaxis and $80,000 Cybertrucks, he's onto some pretty ground-breaking stuff.

So, if you heard that Tesla had unveiled plans for an all-electric yacht with a price tag of $700 million, you'd believe it, right?

How about if there were renderings of the concept, showing off its sleek design?

Well, in 2017, renderings of a Model Y Superyacht began circulating on social media.

The 40-meter (131 foot) long, two-deck boat boasts a number of impressive features, but most importantly, it's self-sustainable.

According to the plans, it runs on an electric engine, making it silent out on the water.

It's then powered by two lithium batteries and charged by a solar panel at the top of the boat, as well as a turbine which converts the movement of the ocean's waves into energy.

The top deck would be kitted out with a high-end bar and dance floor area, covered by a huge roof to protect you against the elements.

Dotted with LED lights, it's bound to be a sight to behold as it lights up on the water at night.

The lower deck boasts tables that turn into seats in the touch of a button - perfect to make room for those last-minute guests you want to invite...

Inside, it features two bedrooms, a circular bar and a lounge suite.

And would it really be a superyacht without a jacuzzi for the ultimate relaxation?

The yacht is of course branded with the iconic Tesla logo, so there's no mistaking where the superyacht is from.

But, this project has nothing to do with the automotive company at all.

Multiple news outlets misreported Tesla releasing the renders in 2017, but this isn't true.

The photos are actually from designer Dhruv Prasad, who shared the incredibly detailed, hypothetical project to creative portfolio site Behance.

Tesla have never addressed the project or its impressive renderings.

Meanwhile Musk apparently has nothing to do with it and has never publicly backed the yacht.

Despite this, some boat enthusiasts have no doubt been wondering when we'd get an update on the yacht.

And it isn't out of the realms of possibility that Musk would branch out to boating.

Who knows, maybe in the future Model Y will become a reality.

UNILAD has contacted Tesla for comment.
