First hotel in space is set to open in 2025

If you’ve ever wanted to be Buzz Lightyear, you are in luck, as the first space hotel is set to open in 2025.

Built by US-based company Orbital Assembly, the luxury resort will cater for tourists and businesspeople who want an out-of-this-world stay!

However, amateur astronauts should be wary as the company has yet to reveal just how much the rooms will cost per night.

The space hotel could open in just two years.

Earlier this year, the space firm announced that it would build two space stations; Voyager Station, which will open in 2027, and Pioneer Station which should open in just two years (2025).

As Orbital Assembly announced its ambitious plans, the company said that the resorts would be ‘'leverage the technologies of Space and the comforts of Earth to create a unique experience unparalleled in history'.

Unlike ‘traditional’ space travel, where astronauts have to use vacuums for toilets and sleep in specialised bags attached to the walls, the new space stations will have ‘simulated gravity’.

There will also be a second station, Voyager, launched in 2027. The space hotel could open in just two years.

This means that guests on the Pioneer and Voyager would be able to use amenities like toilets, showers and beds, much like they do on Earth.

If that weren’t impressive enough, the Pioneer will also have a shop for anyone in need of some retail therapy – although you’ll probably be too busy looking at the incredible views.

Before you plan your first trip though, space cadets should be aware that the Pioneer station will only be able to host 28 people per time.

Voyager will have rooms you can rent for a week.

With such limited space onboard, it’s like that rooms will cost a sky-high fee.

However, Orbital Assembly has revealed that its second space station, the Voyager, will have room for up to 400 guests.

There will also be ‘luxury suites’ that can be rented by the week, month or bought as an epic holiday home, in case you just need to leave the world behind you.

"Our luxury villas are anticipated to be up to 500 m2 (5,300 sf). They will feature cooking facilities, up to three bathrooms, and sleeping accommodations for up to 16 people," the website reads.

If you are feeling a little cooped up in your luxury suite, there will also be gym for extra-terrestrial workouts.

Sadly, you’ll get no cheat days as the weights will weigh the same on Earth thanks to artificial gravity onboard.

However, you’ll be able to treat yourself to a cheat meal at the space station’s restaurant, which will 'rival the best venues on Earth' according to Orbital Assembly.

So, when do we blast off then?
