Britney Spears has taken to Instagram to blast Kelly Clarkson for comments made in 2008 after an interview resurfaced on social media.
Spears, 40, addressed the comments made by Clarkson during a radio interview with Q100 Atlanta. At the time, pop princess Spears suffered a public breakdown which was heavily publicised.
The singer, who struggled to navigate her divorce with ex-husband Kevin Federline, is most notably known for shaving her own hair in a Los Angeles salon, striking a paparazzi's car with an umbrella and driving with her youngest son Jaden on her lap.

The well-documented events drew criticism from the media and social media users, and Clarkson was also on hand to offer her take on Spears' behaviour.
In the resurfaced interview, Clarkson, then 25, suggested that the 'Toxic' singer was 'screwing with everyone' as a marketing ploy to sell her latest album at the time, Blackout.
The American Idol winner said: "Cause it’d be real funny if she were like, ‘just kidding!’ I mean, think about it. She’s done no press for her album, which I love by the way… She’s done no press, just gets so much press off all this other stuff."

Although, the comment seem to have been said in jest, Spears has not seen the humour in Clarkson's comments, 15 years after the interview.
Taking to Instagram, Spears has let fans know she has not forgotten what was said about her. Sharing a video of herself posing to Bazzi's song 'Mine', she wrote: "I don't forget' ... don't you just wish she would say she's kidding ???
"Clarkson ... in a world where bullying has been heartbreaking, I've had my share .... Can we get an AWW [...] ??? Psss ... I'm not kidding ... play on friends, play on !!!"

The post sent fans into a frenzy as they found the clip that Spears referenced. Spears' loyal tribe of followers also managed to find a tweet they believed was behind the 'aww' reference.
The tweet from 2012, was sent to Clarkson after she covered Spears' 2004 track 'Every Time' during a Las Vegas performance.
Spears wrote: ""Awww @Kelly_Clarkson this is beautiful girl!" Spears tweeted back in 2012, prompting Clarkson to respond: "Thanks girl! I love that song :)."
But any possible friendship between the two singers may no longer be on the cards, as Spears has hinted she is not ready to forgive or forget.

This is not the first time Spears has called out someone on social media. Over the last years the singer has addressed a number of people, including her immediate family. The singer has not held back, clapping back at those who have criticised her over her controversial conservatorship.
Spears' father Jamie Spears was in control of the singer's financial and medical decisions, an arrangement that lasted 13 years, until the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.
