The Rock released an emotional video on his social media to pay respects to the Queen

Actor Dwayne Johnson has offered his condolences to the royal family following the death of the Queen in a heartwarming video he posted on his social media.

The Rock posted the video online on Thursday (8 September), and is one of many film and TV starts that have offered their condolences since the announcement.

Listen to the former WWE star as he also opened up about the the lesson he learned from his dad's death:

He said: "Well, it has been one hell of a Thursday so far.

“I'm just swooping in really quickly to stop in and send my love and my condolences, my light, my strength to the royal family during this time in the spirit of the passing of the Queen."

Johnson continued by saying he never had the chance to meet the Queen during her long life.

He added: "I’m so sorry, I know the pain, like we all know the pain. What a life. What an incredible life. I never had the privilege or honour of meeting the Queen, but what a life.

“Seven decades, I think, of the longest running monarchy. I think – I’m terrible at math, but I believe it’s seven decades. What an impactful life.”

The famed American actor then spoke on the lesson he learned from his dad's death, who died just before the Covid-19 pandemic shut the world down.

He said: “The way I look at that these days is it informs us on how we should live moving forward because, in their spirit, we have an opportunity to live life, and live greatly with passion and fervour and positive energy with all we've got.

“Sending a lot of love,” he continued, adding: “Stay strong. Now let's live as greatly as we can – and what a life.”

Johnson's heartwarming video comes after he fell victim to a viral hoax on Twitter where his name was attached to two tweets.

The two fake tweets which were attached to the actor's account using the Queen's death to promote his latest film Black Adam.

One of the tweets read: “Rest in peace to her Majesty the Queen, Elizabeth II. A great woman who sat on the throne as long as anyone in British history. Sad she will never get to see Black Adam.

Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday afternoon (8 September) at the age of 96 following over 70 years on the throne.

Her Majesty was last pictured on Tuesday (6 September) in Balmoral where she asked Liz Truss to form a new government.
