Elon Musk's eldest daughter cutting ties and abandoning his name 'pained him', his biographer claims.
Walter Isaacson has spent several years following Musk and a recent excerpt from the biography he's been writing, which was published in the Wall Street Journal, lifted the lid on how Musk sees the relationship.
Last year, Musk's daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, had a court approve her request to change her name and ditch her father's surname.

Court documents showed that she also wanted to be identified as female, with Wilson writing that her reasons for the name change were: "Gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form."
Wilson's name comes from her mother, Canadian author Justine Wilson who was married to Musk between 2000 and 2008.
According to Isaacson's biography, titled Elon Musk, his daughter cutting ties with him has participated in Musk becoming concerned about something he calls the 'woke mind virus', which he believes is infecting America.

Musk reportedly told his biographer 'civilization will never become multiplanetary' unless this supposed 'woke mind virus' is stopped.
Isaacson wrote that Wilson texted her uncle's wife, saying: "Hey, I’m transgender, and my name is now Jenna. Don't tell my dad."
After she broke off contact with her father, the Tesla CEO said his eldest daughter 'went beyond socialism to being a full communist and thinking that anyone rich is evil'.
However, while he had said 'can't win them all', his biographer wrote that the rift with his daughter 'pained him more than anything in his life since the infant death of his firstborn child Nevada'.

The biography quotes Musk as saying he's 'made many overtures' towards his daughter 'but she doesn't want to spend time with me'.
Jenna's mother Justine wrote on what was still Twitter before Musk had his way with it that she was 'proud' of her daughter.
Musk's biographer also recently published a screenshot of texts he'd had with the Tesla boss about a potential fight with Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, which really doesn't look like it's happening.

Isaacson also said he's seen Musk go into 'demon mode' and said he became 'unpleasant' at times when focusing on a task.
The term 'demon mode' apparently came from Musk's ex-partner Grimes and that it 'gets s**t done' but leaves little room for anyone who doesn't share his 'maniacal sense of urgency'.
