From embarrassing moments to emotional outbursts, therapists have seen and heard it all. And thanks to Karen Gillan, that includes a patient in full Guardians of the Galaxy makeup.
Marvel is known for keeping details about its upcoming movies under wraps, typically keeping every important plot line, character cameo and surprising twist quiet, and only drip-feeding fans information through posters and trailers.
The stars of the film are tasked with keeping up this secrecy, but Gillan allowed her therapist a sneak peak of her character in the latest Guardians of the Galaxy film when she showed up for a session while it was still in production.
I don't know if it would have been more or less weird if the session took place in person, but it was actually conducted over Zoom. So picture the scene: you're a therapist in the Zoom waiting room, tapping your fingers while you wait for your clients to log on, and all of a sudden you're greeted with the face of Nebula.

Has Disney+ joined the chat? Have you somehow hit play on Guardians of the Galaxy instead of turning on your mic?
Nope, it's just Gillan, wearing regular clothes, with her regular-coloured arms on display, only her face is fully made up to look like Nebula.
Just another day in the office then, I guess.
Gillan recalled the bizarre moment in honour of the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 this week, sharing a screenshot from the meeting on Twitter.

"In honour of Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters Friday, here’s a screenshot of the time I forgot I had scheduled a COUPLES THERAPY session on a day we were shooting," Gillan wrote.
Unfortunately Gillan didn't share any details about exactly how her therapist reacted to this baffling encounter, but I can only hope that she fully committed to the situation and kept up her Nebula voice for the entire session.
Though, to be fair, that probably wouldn't have been very productive.

Gillan attended the session with her husband, comedian Nick Kocher, who actually didn't look as phased in the screenshot as you might expect. Instead, it was more like, 'well, I guess this is happening'.
Nebula herself doesn't really seem like the type to try and talk about her life in therapy, but fans can instead see her in action alongside the rest of the Guardians, brought to life by the likes of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista, in the new film which is now in cinemas.
