He may be Indiana Jones, but even Harrison Ford couldn’t escape the awkward moment when he was forced to sit apart from his wife during a rare public appearance.
The veteran actor had been attending the 76th annual Cannes International Film Festival when the uncomfortable blunder occurred.
Ford, 80, and Calista Flockhart, 58, who have been married since 2010, are a notoriously private couple so you’d have thought someone would have at least sat them together.
Yesterday (18 May) the Hollywood couple appeared on the red carpet for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - which will be the last movie in the beloved adventure franchise.

While the 80-year-old spent months preparing for the premiere, someone behind the scenes seemingly hadn’t done their homework.
Instead of leaving enough space for the husband and wife to sit together, the couple can be seen awkwardly walking towards Ford’s seat before realising Flockhart's seat was in the row behind.
After noticing the seating plan, he tells his wife: "You're right behind me, look! Well, that's the way it is."
Flockhart then makes her way to her seat in the second row while Ford smiles at the crowd's welcoming applause.

Ford later received an honorary Palme d'Or at the premiere, and his wife was seen smiling behind him.
Just like the titular action hero though, the Indiana Jones star wasn’t fazed and smiled through the five-minute standing ovation.
In his speech, Ford joked about seeing the clip reel of his career and told the audience: "I'm very touched. I'm very moved by this. They say when you're about to die, you see your life flash before your eyes. I just saw my life flash before my eyes."

"A great part of my life, not all of my life," he added.
The awkward moment hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans either, with the clip going viral online and receiving almost 800,000 views in less than 24 hours on Twitter.
One fan even tweeted about the incident, writing: “Awkward moment at the INDIANA JONES premiere when Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart arrive at his seat and she realizes Cannes assigned her the row behind him.”

However, there may have been some rational behind the strange seating choice, with Ford sitting next to the film’s director, James Mangold, and actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge who plays Indiana’s goddaughter, Helena Shaw.
We imagine someone might be in the hot seat over this.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is set to arrive in cinemas on June 28.
