Hilary Swank has announced she has given birth to twins at the age of 48, saying the difficult journey has been ‘worth it’.
The Oscar-winning actor confirmed she was expecting two children with husband Philip Schneider last October, saying at the time that the pregnancy was a ‘total miracle’.
She had previously been vocal about wanting kids, but felt it was important for the time to be ‘right’.

Fast forward to spring 2023, and here we are.
Swank shared the happy news with fans on Instagram, posting a picture of her enjoying the sunset with her two babies – a boy and a girl – whose heads were just about visible over her shoulders.
The new mum wrote: “It wasn’t easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it. Happy Easter! Posting from pure Heaven.”

Swank and her husband Schneider started dating in 2016, and officially tied the knot in August 2018.
She revealed she was pregnant in a 5 October interview on Good Morning America, where she said: “I’m so happy to share it with you and with America right now. This is something I’ve been wanting for a long time and my next thing is I’m going to be a mom!
“I’m going to be a mom and not just of one but of two. It's so nice to be able to talk about it and share it."
She later took to social media with a photo of her baby bump, writing: "Coming soon… DOUBLE feature."

By Swank’s own admission, her journey to motherhood hasn’t been easy – including when it came to continuing working while pregnant.
Speaking about her pregnancy on Live With Kelly And Ryan, she said she was ‘feeling great’, but that she’d struggled to keep her news a secret from coworkers on the set of TV show Alaska Daily.
She said her clothes had ‘started not to fit’, which made hiding her pregnancy became increasingly tricky before she was ready to go public.

At one point while shooting, she had to cut her jeans open because they no longer fit her, and ended up having to put a jacket over her costume.
She recalled: "My clothes started not to fit so I had to, the other day … cut [my jeans] open. And then I put a jacket on that wasn’t in continuity.
“And [they] came and said, ‘That’s not in continuity’. I said, ‘Oh, I think it works’.”
When told that it ‘didn’t work’, she said: “’No, it does. I’m going to make it work.’"
