Kathy Griffin has revealed she’s undergoing surgery on her vocal cords after losing her voice due to cancer treatment.
Griffin, 62, announced last year that she had been diagnosed with stage one lung cancer, having had half of her lung removed in August 2021.
In September this year, the comedian explained how her voice had suffered ‘some damage’ during the treatment, saying she wasn’t sure if it would go back to normal.

Now Griffin has now said she’s undergoing surgery to help rectify the issue, saying she would ‘do anything’ to get her voice back.
In a social media video posted yesterday (Tuesday 6 December), Griffin said she was on her way to hospital for the procedure, fearing that it may ‘hurt’.
She said: “Good morning. Yes, I'm feeling sorry for myself and I'll tell you why.

“Because I'm on my way to the hospital again, because I have to go into general to get another procedure on my vocal cords.
“So the good news is I get to go home today. But the last time I got this done, it hurt for like seven days. But I'm just being a baby.
“But I want to get my voice back, you know, I'll do anything.
“Also I wanted to tell you guys, I want your pity. Right, you know in movies, when they're like, ‘I don't want your pity, don't feel sorry for me!’

“Hell yeah, I'll take it I'll take your pity. I'll take your feelings of sorry. I love it. Bring it.”
In the caption, Griffin added: "And I have to go under general anesthesia for a 20 minute procedure. I am soliciting you for pity and/or good thoughts I can get from you!"
Earlier this year, Griffin gave fans an update during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, saying she was working on getting her voice back to normal after it was damaged during the cancer treatment.

“My voice got some damage,” she told host Jimmy Kimmel.
“But I’m fine, it doesn’t hurt.”
Shaking her chest to cheers from the audience, she added: “And the important thing is my boobs are still fabulous.”
Griffin felt her new higher-pitched voice made her ‘funnier’, but hoped that things would revert back to how they should be.

“Will eventually your vocal cords stretch and your voice will deepen again?” Kimmel asked.
Griffin replied: “I think it’ll get back to normal, but I’m not sure. I’m still working on it. I am funnier cause I think I sound non-threatening and demure. That’s my new angle.”
