Ben Affleck confirms his real penis was shown in Gone Girl after ex Jennifer Garner joked about its size

2014 movie Gone Girl received critical acclaim upon its release - with fans being sent into a frenzy regarding one scene in particular.

The film based on the book of the same name had a huge cast consisting of Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Emily Ratajkowski and Neil Patrick Harris (to name a few).

It went on to be nominated for a handful of prestigious awards, including an Oscar and BAFTA.

Ten years on from its release, Gone Girl boasts an impressive 87 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. And some of the film's popularity might stem from a nude scene with Affleck...

In the scene in question, Affleck's character Nick Dunne gets into the shower and, well, you see a bit more than you might have expected.

Many actors will wear prosthetics in nude scenes - a recent example being Tom Pelphrey in A Man in Full. But Affleck says that it was his personal appendage that saw on screen.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly back in 2014, he said of Gone Girl: "I want to take this opportunity to thank David [Fincher] for the way he treated me.

"In particular, we had a shower scene in the movie. And David assured me, because trust is essential with directors and actors: 'Listen, if we tilt down we will never go far enough to see anything.' So thank you David.

"And I'd like to thank you for keeping the set cool. Because if you are gonna have one chance for America to see your junk you want it to be cold. It's a real gift."

Affleck's then-wife and fellow actor Jennifer Garner also address his penis being in the movie.

Chatting to Ellen DeGenerous on her show, Garner quipped: "What I have to say is - you’re welcome."

"You know, I try to consider myself a charitable person and I wanted to give back," she went on.

Recalling the moment Affleck came home and told her about the shower scene, the mom-of-three shared: "It was a discussion. It was like 'Hey, um at work today [director David] Fincher talked me into coming out of the shower.'

"And I was like, 'Cool, well I hope he had on a wide lens'."

After 13 years of marriage, Garner and Affleck split in 2018.

They share three kids together: Violet, 18, 15-year-old Fin, and Samuel, 12.

Affleck has since married former flame Jennifer Lopez, while Garner has been linked to American businessman John Miller.
