Britney Spears makes unexpected announcement amid reconnection with youngest son

The 'Toxic' singer announced the news on Instagram as her eldest son prepares to graduate

Britney Spears has surprised fans with an unexpected announcement amid the news that she's reunited with her youngest son.

The 42-year-old singer has been estranged from her now 18-year old son Jayden Federline for years, after losing custody of two of her children to her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, who she divorced in 2007.

In the 17 years since the split, Spears has paid an estimated $5 million to Federline for child support for for the two kids they share together - Sean, 19, and Jayden.

Britney Spears' child support payments coming to an end

However, it has now been reported that Spears will no longer pay the child support when Jayden graduates from high school this month, and Spears is taking steps to reconnect with her youngest son.

Spears and Federline married in 2004, and due to the personal struggles Spears has faced over the last few years, Federline was given full custody of their kids in 2008.

According to the MailOnline, a source close to Britney said: “The amount of money Britney has given Kevin for the two boys is extraordinary and it is enough for any man to support an entire family, which is what she believes he has done."

TMZ has now reported that Jayden has moved back from Hawaii to California, and has been attempting to work on his relationship with his mom.

A source also told Page Six: "They have been spending a lot of time together."

All this talk has also prompted a response from Federline’s team, in which his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told Page Six: "If there has been a reconciliation it’s news to Kevin."

They continued to explain further that Jayden and Federline converse often and at no point have they spoke about a reconciliation between him and his mom.

However, news has arose that Spears will also be making a move too - but not to where fans may have expected.

A move to Mexico is on the cards

On Tuesday (November 12), Spears announced in a now-deleted Instagram post that she plans to move to Mexico soon, according to screenshots shared by fans.

Responding to this on Reddit, users have seemed surprised by this move, with many questioning why she would choose to move to Mexico.

One user wrote: “Why not move to Hawaii where her sons live?”

Another who seemed less surprised, typed: “For the negative press she gets in the US, I wonder why she has not move earlier.”

With a seemingly confused tone, another user typed: “How will this help that though? It won’t.”
