Emma Stone would like to go by her real name.

The star has been in a host of movies over the years, including comedies like Easy A and The House Bunny, to her Oscar Award winning performances in Poor Things and La La Land.

Basically, Stone has become a household name in Hollywood over the course of her career - but she would now like to change things up.

Like many celebrities, Stone has a kind-of stage name that she goes by in the industry - and it's not that different from her real name, however.

Stone's real surname is actually Stone; it's just her first name that's different.

And after decades as an actress, the Zombieland star admitted that it would be 'so nice' to go by her real name.

Stone was recently interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter alongside fellow actor Nathan Fielder, who is her co-star on the comedy drama, The Curse.

Speaking to the magazine, Fielder said: "Before we continue, I’d like to say something. Her name’s Emily, but she goes by Emma professionally. So when there’s people that don’t know her, I end up saying Emma. But I’m going to just say Emily from here on."

The actor was then asked if anyone in Hollywood refers to her by Emily, to which she replied: "When I get to know them, people that I work with do. It’s just because my name was taken [by another actress in SAG].

"Then I freaked out a couple of years ago. For some reason, I was like, 'I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.' Nathan calls me Em, which is easier."

When asked if she would be bothered if a fan in the street called her by her birth name, she added that it would be 'so nice' to go by Emily.

"No. That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily." Stone said.

As to where the name 'Emma' came from, she drew inspiration from 90s pop group, The Spice Girls.

When she was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon back in 2018, Stone shared: "Growing up, I was super blonde, and my real name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and guess what? Now I am."

She went on to note that she didn't pick the name solely because of Bunton, but did admit she started referring to herself as 'Emma' in second grade because she was such a Spice Girls fan.

"It wasn’t necessarily because of [Bunton] but yes, in second grade, did I go up to the teacher on the first day and ask her to call me Emma? Yes I did," she said.

I'm sure she wasn't the first young girl to demand to be called the same name as one of The Spice Girls.
